Bilingual
The purpose of the NISD bilingual education programs shall be to enable Emergent Bilingual students to become proficient in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in the English language through the development of literacy and academic skills in the primary language and English.

English as a Second Language
辦癡's ESL Program is implemented to support the linguistic, academic, and affective needs of Emergent Bilingual students (EBs). The ESL content-based program model is an English acquisition program that implements content-based language instructional methods in reading and language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. The goal of content-based ESL is for emergent bilingual students to attain full proficiency in English in order to participate equitably in school. Additionally, the NISD Newcomer ESL program model is designed to help acclimate recent immigrant Emergent Bilinguals (EBs) to their new country, new school, and new language within a safe, supportive environment.

Student Placement Center
A student is referred to the Student Placement Center if a language other than English is indicated on the required federal Home Language Survey as part of the district registration process.

Parent Support Links
Parent support links include information to help families better understand the process of second language acquisition and resources to help families as their children acquire English, Spanish and maintain their own home language.
