Construction Careers Academy


What we do


Construction Careers Academy (CCA) is the premier magnet school in 快猫 Independent School district (NISD) that prepares students for careers in the construction industry. All NISD students are eligible to attend CCA and transportation is provided. While at CCA you will be provided an advanced and rigorous curriculum with a focus on construction technology (carpentry, electrical/HVAC, and plumbing/pipe-fitting), construction management, architectural design, applied engineering, and real-world experience that will prepare you for higher education and/or a career in a construction related industry. CCA students attend high school co-located with Warren HS and will take all core and elective classes on the Warren campus while maintaining your identity as a CCA student.

Certifications


CCA students have the opportunity to gain credentials and certifications for their resume and portfolio beginning their Freshman year and may receive some of the following certifications:

  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction Certification
  • NCCER Core
  • NCCER Level 1 and 2 in Plumbing, Electrical and Carpentry
  • AutoCAD certification
  • Revit certification
  • Land Surveying certifications

Department Of Labor Apprenticeship


CCA is a DOL apprenticeship program.  At 16 years old, our student may register with the Department of Labor and begin acquiring hours toward their Tradesman or Journeyman license in Electrical, Plumbing or Carpentry.  By graduation, a student may earn up to 1000 hours with the DOL.  Plumbing students will also register with the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners for their plumbing license and prepare for the Tradesman license upon graduation. 

Internships/Job Shadowing


Internship/Externship Opportunities - In addition to the available experience on campus, our students actively participate in internships and job shadowing programs with our business partners, some of the best companies in the industry. Companies like; Zachry Corp, Skanska, SpawGlass, Alamo1, Diamond Plumbing, Chesmar Homes, IES Electrical, and many, many more.

  • November 17, 2025: Online application opens
  • January 23, 2026: Deadline to submit applications
  • February 2, 2026:  Acceptance/waitlist letters emailed
  • February 9, 2026: Deadline for families to accept/decline

About Us


Students who choose to attend CCA are guaranteed a safe, challenging, rigorous, and enjoyable educational experience taught by instructors with many years of experience in their related field. All CCA graduates earn a college-ready high school diploma they will always be proud of and become alumni of one of the most-recognized schools in Texas. Additionally, our students in the Construction Technology strands (Carpentry, Elec/HVAC, plumbing/pipe-fitting/welding) earn dual credit with St. Philips College. Graduates are prepared for a multitude of educational and career opportunities.
